When I buy I always look for when it left the factory in Germany, not when it was complied in Aus. It's something the dealers will always show me on the computer screen.

+1, think I would go by the build date when buying a car, not the compliance date and think insurance companies and car yards too go by the build date to haggle the price down, correct me if am wrong.
