I cleaned my VANOS solenoids last weekend, thinking it was a cam timing issue. Seemed to help for about 1 day then went back to the shaking engine. On "cold" starts, it's not very cold here, I get the shakes and SES light. Today, I did a high boost run (18psi) and got a CEL but car felt fine (said limp but had full power). Turn if off and back on, CEL went away. Scanned with BT when I got home....no codes. Same goes with the shaking engine and SES, no codes.
Car is going in the dealer tomorrow for a walnut shell blast, I'm sure my valves are gunked at 70K. Hope this helps. Next step is going to be and oil/spark plug change, if that doesn't work, followed by injectors if all else fails. |
Walnut shell blast is great. THese things get really gunked up (I've had them done at 20k and 40k). Car gets a lot of power back. Unfortunately, doesn't help with hte rough idle/misfiring issue.
I'm almost positivie the rough idle is just minor misfire events at this point.
