It's loads of fun to drive, I can assure you.
What's really cool is that due to the huge torque you get almost instant acceleration at any particular rev number, which is - for me - the biggest advantage in daily driving. With a natural aspirated car you can be just as quick, but not in the same gear. And although it's got loads of torque the engine does not suffer of the limited rev band of a diesel (such as the 335d) or the torque spikes that go along with these engines.
The M3 still is a fantastic engine, though!
