I went with direct line when i renewed last month. They covered my bootlip spoiler for no extra charge.
Given the sat nav is a factory optional extra, i cant see companies having an issue with it, but its all about the wording. Saying things like "retrofitted" or "modified" doesnt sound good and will make many of them run a mile. I've changed the stereo in every car i've owned before the BMW, and never mentioned it to the insurance company.
