well. 1.it could also be low boost that u might not even detect (small hole in hose) that will result in 10-20% power reduction, and tranny won't have enough torque to stay on a gear.
2. u live in cold climate and it is pretty normal because it is told by ECU to restrict power while the engine is cold, so also tranny behaves differently, resembling the point 1.
3.lack of fluid in tranny, but since u mention that tranny drives fine when warm, I would give this small percentage, but still very possible
