I don't get why/how this happened when he lifted the throttle, as opposed to while he was under WOT.
I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you. My first track day caused my wastegates to fail and that same day I saw my buddy's S2000 catch on fire... This was all at the Streets of Willow.
