Even with 17" there's still not enough sidewall that you can lower your psi. You need to actually increase it to prevent pinch flats and bent wheels.
Recommend minimum 35 psi but I run 37psi.

18" XL rated tire with 37psi should be pretty robust. Drove like that for years without a problem. First week I get convinced that it's just causing an unnecessary rough ride and lower it to 33psi I get a bent wheel...

Even managed to bend my winter 16" wheels when they were at 32 psi.
