I think the best deterrent would be a steering wheel lock, for manual car owners you cant beat the handbrake/gear lever lock which is oldskool but works.
As mentioned it would be good if they give up even before trying, another garage told me to swap over the pos and neg on can bus port to cook their equipment when they plugin, dont know if it would work.
My mate woke up to find all his windows were wound down and lock tampered with, he reckons they used tools to keep lock on door turned which winds windows down.
They didnt take car for some reason and i think sat nav and leather is a turn on for the thieving mofo's
