I went to Canadian Tire and you can get black automotive carpet there, its about $20 for a decent size roll. I cut some pieces of that to fit under my rubber mats (rubber mats are a must in the winter), and these pieces are big enough to basically cover all the exposed carpet around my mats. The black that it comes in is just a little darker than the carpets in the car, it doesn't look too bad overall. So hopefully they'll contain the salt and I'll have nice plush carpets in the spring.
