My recommendation is to rely on km only for the oil. For the pads, just do quarterly visual inspections; this notification system doesn't work very well. But I don't see why it should reset to 8000km anyway. I'd try it again. There is also the brakes oil flush every 2 years but I think that it is on a different notification.
