This. Precisely this.

Your logic about wanting to stay "original" is simply flawed when you're talking about something like this.
Why spend a grand+ when you can spend ~$30-50 and gain MORE functionality and the option of removing it later.

I've owned the adapter linked above and it's great. Switched away from it and did my AirPlay install.
