Since you don't have the USB in the arm rest, you can run usb and aux wires there. Or just use bluetooth for everything. Every combox I have retrofitted has needed the one time software update. That can be done with a cheap ebay usb to bmw usb adapter hooked to the combox usb port.
Post the part number of your BN2000 to be sure.

At the hardware part is it really just a matter of rewriting 6 pins ?! No cut or soldering ?
