Hello Everyone,

Dulak had posed a great question today about the hp gains between stage 1 and stage 2. I thought this was a good question to post up an overly detailed answer.

Quote:
There are a few things we need to check on your car before we go ahead and order this.
If you have had previous work on the car where the engine control unit was involved you may have to get a new one depending on what is onboard.

The main difference between stage 1 and 2 is the parts listed below. It is recommended to get stage 2 if this car will be on the track to dissipate the
Extra heat this added hp will produce. If there are plans to get a M-tech kit or BMW Performance Aero Kit, the air duct part number will change.

The data and torque numbers remain the same as stage I.
  • Horsepower increase from 300 to 320.
  • Torque increase from 300 to 317 ft-lbs (for manual transmission) and to 332 ft-lbs (for automatic
  • transmission)
  • 0.2 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 0 to 100 km/h.
  • 0.5 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 80 to 120 km/h.
  • The BMW Power Kit retains the original BMW limited warranty.
  • Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain unchanged.
  • Includes an additional water cooler and a more powerful fan for the main radiator that reduces thermal
  • stress on the engine during sporty driving in a track environment.

This is what is included in the Stage II:

• Red Envelope (the activation codes)
• 850W Cooling Fan
• MSD81 Engine Control Unit, Only included in one version of the kit (again, depends on your current one onboard)
• Wiring Harness
• Aluminum Cooling Radiator

Air Ducting is sold separately. Spark plug replacement will be performed on cars built 3/09 or with more than 60,000 kilometers on the clock (extra charge).

Here is the pricing:

Power kit $2,871.50
Air Duct kit $257.50
Spark Plugs Bosch BMW ZGR6TSE2 x6 $214.80

Here is the Labour:@ $130.00/hr

8.0 hrs estimated for the Power kit install.
1.0 hrs spark plug change
2.0 hrs for programming.

Totals:

Parts $3,343.80
Install $1,430.00
Taxes $620.59

Grand Total: $5,394.39 including tax.

Overall, Stage 1 would apply to 99% of street driven cars. Its the best package for the money. I have stage them in stock and anyone interested, please pm me and I'll take care of the request. Cheers!
