You don't need to splice wires for the dp fix, you replace the wires in the harness. Takes about 20min to do if you've done it a bunch of times. I do it for every inspection. If I were you I would do the dp fix, as getting the downpipes is usually expensive since you have to drop the subframe to get to them, much rather pay $70 then pay 400-500 to get them replaced. Also there isn't enough space to use the universal cats.
