Rather, I believe BMW is very smart in marketing it as a 4 series, thus allowing them to charge that slight premium. This is because BMW sells a lot less coupes than sedans, and for those of you familiar with manufacturing or supply chain, you know all about volume discounts, and efficiencies of scale.
It's a slick move by BMW to increase the gross margins on the coupe. Plus it looks like the new styling is a winner. A potential 'Game Changer' in the sporty luxury coupe segment imo.

You forget that the E92 had more standard options than the E90.
The F32 will have more standard features than the F30 so the 3k-ish price increase is more than reasonable.
