Have you seen that they have some sort of "green" mulch that can be spread on dying lawns. I think the idea is that it maintains the green look of a lawn, and once the rain returns your grass underneath will grow back thru and eventually the mulch is fertilizer to make it even greener.

My crabgrass dies every winter, so it's not unusual for me.
