FWIW, I'm 99% sure I saw an old post where someone put a 20" 305 in the rear on his E92. But it wasn't dropped.
I've measure so I know there is room if you're willing to live with some rubbing. My fenders are rolled about as far as they will go, there is a slight pull. The fender lip flares out a tiny bit. The worst rubbing was at the bumper junction and I rolled that area flat as well. I believe robc cut his out. I'm not sure if that junction is different on the E92 vs. E90. Even with a 295 tire, there is ~ 20 mm between edge of tire and edge of fender. That's of course static and the edge of the tire is the narrowest part, but there is room for a bigger tire. I would need to add 5mm spacer for strut clearance and then the tire adds another 5mm or so; it would fit though.
