It's not cool to save a bit of money and buy a nice car in modern socialist eco Britain. Money spent on travelling around the other side of the world is fine, and no one questions the cost of that, especially if it is to a country with relative poverty. Same goes for spending all your dough down the pub or on cigarettes. All your spare money should go to help the "vulnerable" as they say.
Even some people I work with are surprised at the car I have, and even at second hand prices they think it is expensive. I have no idea what they spend all their money on. They don't have a lot of possessions so I assume it is just in coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. Not that I don't enjoy those things, but I can have fun without spending tonnes of money on items with very little value every weekend.
