I had the passenger side recently replaced under warranty after I noticed it slowly dimming. At some point I could tell a distinct difference in brightness between the left door and right door. This surprised me as mine is a 2010 car that's just barely more than a year old. Fortunately, I checked on Tisher and believe the parts amount to somewhere at or under $35 for each door strip so it's not too bad. You just have to have the patience to remove the door panel for installation.
