I had the same thoughts as you and switched from KW V1's to KW V2's. I've ridden in cars with various setups and I feel like my V2's on 7 clicks from hard on the front and 9 clicks from hard on the rear offer a substantially softer ride than stock sport suspension without the body roll.
I'd recommend adjustable Koni's but they're softest setting is like medium on my V2's.
If I were you just get V2's and call it a day.
