I ordered I-drive built with system for two reasons: 1) to ensurre full electronic functionality/compatibility with BMW system and 2) built in to the dash (i.e., not portable).
If there were an aftermarket system that could meet these requirements safely, I believe I and others would have gone this route.
Some simple SW changes like POI, which side of street, displaying address of POI, speed increase, etc., would get 90% of the way towards being competitive with other Navis. So dissappointing.
