I dont necessarily like clutch stops so try removing it. ( I doubt that is the problem but sometimes I fear it doesn't allow proper disengagement of the clutch).

In the meantime did you flush the fluid and bleed properly?

AS far as smoothness, are you referring to the 1-2 shift? That is very hard to get smooth on this car.

Is the actual pedal feel and engagement different from time to time? That may either be your clutch is on the way out or your fluid needs to be changed or bled.

My 335i had a very nice linear and consistent clutch pedal feel.
