I understand the frustration. I *think* (big caveat here, I may be wrong), the computer just estimates brake pad life, but will be overridden by the physical brake pad wear sensors when the pads are truly worn down.
Translation: if you pads have another 10000 miles on them, resetting the computer interval doesn't mean you won't get notified (and get new pads) when they do wear out. They just want the sensors to kick in before the computer interval doe.
