If it turns over its not a ground issue. You said it over heated, have you checked oil for coolant? Pulled glow plugs and checked for compression? Are you getting RPMs when cranking? Dont assume new parts are good. These dont often overheat, but IF IT did you need to check the usual suspects for said scenario.
