Sorry but they simply don't total cars for fender benders. The agent doesn't just pocket the money, that's not how it works. Nobody is saying this is a bad car, it's probably a great car, but I agree it's a massive red flag trying to downplay it like this. Do you have any pics of the damage? Any receipts from the dealer where all the parts came from? Each state has slightly different criteria for what exactly totals a car, but the in vast majority, it's 75-80% of the value of the car OR structural damage OR airbag deployment. I've seen a ton of e90s with an accident on their carfax and they were not totaled but that's not the case here, so what happened?
