I've had a warranty direct policy on 2 separate cars in the past and both times needed to claim the best part of 2k in one go and it was pretty seamless. admittedly the BMW warranty I have had on most of my cars is alot easier with a couple of less hoops to jump through but all in all I think if your car has a FSH at reputable dealerships at the required intervals then an aftermarket warranty should suffice.
