More horsepower, more torque, more smoothness, less timing corrections for the car? All 4? Only 2? Or is this strictly in reference to the intercooler performance you mean so basically heat soaking and being able to go longer and push and push?

It's tough to say how much you or anyone can gain from a bigger intercooler without directly comparing the two intercoolers on the same car.
But if IAT gets too high, the DME will reduce timing. This results in a loss of horsepower and torque.
The more boost you are pushing, the hotter the ambient temp is, the more aggressively you drive, the more this will happen with a smaller intercooler.
that's why I said earlier, it depends on which stage you are running, the area temp where you live, and how much you push the car
