I changed my fluid at 44k, now car is at 48k. I used Redline D6 with Lubegard Platinum ATF additive (per instructions on Lubegard web site). Lubegard claims their additive eliminates the need to use OEM fluids.

I did not remove the pan. I drained the pan and first refilled to the fill hole. Then, capped it ran the engine and transmission through all the gears for about 3 minutes to try and get some of the old out of the torque converter. Then, drained the pan again and refilled according to the ZF procedure. It took 6 quarts of fresh fluid using this procedure. I have had zero problems with the Redline D6 and Lubegard additive. The drained fluid was a semi-transparent grayish color and smelled fine. I saved it just in case I didn't like the Redline.

The car drives about the same as before, maybe shifts a bit better.
