Correct. Very annoying to have another brand of car on the alignment rack, install brake stick to hold the brakes, key off, and the damn brake lights are still on!
You will have to pull the lower cover under the driver's dash area to see the brake pedal switch. Ensure nothing is hanging up and holding the pedal down, even a 1/4" will turn the brake lights on. Aftermarket stereo or additional wiring up under the dash is typically quite shoddy and could be the cause. Otherwise it would be a bad switch.
