Neither the HDD nor the SSD are used to boot the car operating system.
The boot happens from flash memory.
That is why you can remove the HDD and your audio system will still work in a limited fashion.
If you want to compare the difference, once the GPS comes up, zoom in and out on the map or move around on the map to see the better performance with the SSD.
