Different body styles, engines, potential etc. I had an Evo9 making a bit over 400awhp and walked away from every single 335i from a roll. From a dig, it really wasn't fair at all, but N54's have come a long away from back then and so you should have a decent shot at beating him from a roll if he is being truthful.
