If it is under warranty do it right away. Mine died 3 weeks ago after 2 and half years and I had to replace it on my own account for just under 5k.
BMW has revised their fuel pump 3 or 4 times now and the current version is most stable.
The saddest moment is to have the FP die on a beautiful SMD!!! HAHAHAHHA
