The 330i to the M3 makes lots of sense. As everything is just turned up. The 335i ( or d's) to M3 does not always work as people miss the low & mid range torque and have learned to drive there cars on this.
330i drivers are used to revving a car to make progress. And when you do that on the M3..... it does make progress.

Yes precisely my point but better made. The instant torque from the diesel makes making quick progress very easy.
