Hoover aren't a premium make, so 9 years aint bad IMO.

Whining on spin could be worn motor brushes (£5) or dry bearings (i just oiled our motor bearings 5 years ago when I was told it needed a new motor, fine ever since)

Door seals are only a 20 quid or so and easy to fit, and the sticky selector could just need cleaning inside.

Unless you can DIY its the labour that will kill it.

Try here for parts, I get all our bits from there - great service and they seem to do every concievable part!!
