sorry I didn't have a film crew..
moving it would be pointless if it needs to be changed you could see it can be done with one hand and recording a video in less than 7 minutes. the failure rate for this part is not "high" although it does need to be replaced from time to time.
you would not need a custom cable all you would need to do is cut and extend then you could move it to the glove box inside the car. if you think that is a bad location it sounds like you have not worked on many cars.... I think that spot is great lol.
