So I'm not sure what made me think of this, but would it be possible to transplant a DCT transmission into an E90 335? Mechanically I really don't see any insurmountable obstacles & that the only real headaches would be minor fitment issues + the software.
- The E90 M3 uses the DCT so fitment wise (drive shaft, mounting the transmission in a sedan, etc) it should be compatible
- The 335is utilizes the DCT, so we know for a fact that the N54 engine + DCT get along fine (even on tuned N54s)
Aesthetics aside (modifying the interior for the new shift knob, buttons for the DCT settings, replacement steering wheel) this sounds very possible. I know that my reasoning is very basic, but I was wondering if anyone has more knowledge on the compatibility of the DCT into an E90 335 + what the potential obstacles are.
