You are correct. Although I would argue if oil test comes back good it would eliminate at least a few things off the list. To the original question: I don't know if burning oil is an oil issue.

Well burning oil can happen for two reasons:
1. Mechanical issue (valve stems, rings).
2. Evaporation % (Noack) of oil is high.
None will show in UOA.
