You can just buy the connector and wires off a wreck like I did and connect the wires. I paid $25 shipped in USA for the 2x 12 pin connector and the 3 pin going to the column switch.
The heated steering is stand-alone. The controller for heat is built into the steering wheel. It sits on the inside of bottom spoke, which is why it is so wide. No other computers in the car know it even exists.
