but as far as Drifting - as in the newest motorsport of drifting- wherein you powerslide the back end using the throttle on, with the rear tires spinning, and the front wheels countersteering, and keeping the gas on as you slide the back end around a corner - NO. not in the xi and not in other modern AWD cars.
according to BMW, x-drive transfers power to the tires with the most traction - so when the rears tires start to spin x-drive transfers power away from them and to the front tires. thus no power on oversteer. almost all modern AWD street cars will understeer at the limit with the throttle on. possibly the newest excpetion is the Nissan GTR that can put like 95% of the power to the rear tires.

xDrive can send 100% of the power to either axle as well, however, the GT-R normally has about 90% of the power to the rear, where as the xDrive is like 25% Front and 75% rear.
