OEM BMW coolant is zerek G-48 and can only be bought at a BMW dealership as they have a contract with vavoline (makers of zerek g48). You cannot buy G-48 at any retail store, only G-05. The difference between G-48 and G-05 is that the G-48 has a higher pH, no nitrate, and other subtle differences. So the G-48 is more refined than the G-05. Some say the G-48 is better for the cooling system and engine due to less corrosion, some say that its total BS and it doesn't make a difference. It's all up to you as to what you want to do.
