By cutting the impedance in half you are doubling the power, well trying to anyways. You are actually clipping the amp and I wouldnt be surprised if it overheats after listening at a high volume for a while. Its your car do whatever you want, but have you looked at the price to replace your amp, even a used one will be 400-500 dollars.
