the m sport knob(your oem knob/boot) is the e90 equivalant of the e46 zhp knob. i just replaced my zhp knob with the e90 m sport knob/boot assembly. i found the weight very similar, and prefer the perforated and squared shape of the m sport knob.
the zhp knob is great! but i found an even greater deal on the msport knob and handbrake handle that i could not resist. damn craigslist.
looking on ebay, there seems to be a few cost effective solutions... although the aftermarket boots may have questionable quality. i am certain you will find a nice used oem boot if you keep looking.
