330d's aren't allowed in this thread
mine would do 50mpg ( looking at the needle) at 30ish on a flat road in 3rd but keeping a steady 30 for any lenght of time is impossible.
I had a volvo D5 (chipped of course) that had a digital "instant" readout that would do 83mpg at constant 30 on a flat road but there is nowhere you can do that for any length of time & then a hill comes along that will knock it right down to 25mpg because there is no momentum to get half way up the hill.
