I just thought I'd share my experience with this new update.

Took my car into Irvine BMW, and was very happy with their professionalism, and care. The service advisor was very courteous and helpful.

I too have the problem with VR. It simply does not work. Everything else seemed to work fine. My stored data in the address book was still there, and the clock was programmed. I drove from Irvine to Torrance, parked my car, and an hour later, started my car again. Suddenly, my clock reads 0:00, the SOS (BMW-assist) malfunction symbol is on, and my iDrive knob rotates with no resistance. I have no control of my iDrive. I tried several soft resets using the start button, CD, and DVD eject buttons to no avail. Several minutes later, after stopping and restarting my car, everything seemed to work again, and the clock read the correct time. I'm not sure what to think. Just thought I'd share my experience. Undoubtedly in time, we will figure how to remedy the problem.
