but then why opt for the rwd?
I can only imagine choosing rwd on a lambo if you want a more daunting and intense ride, and imho only a manual (probably the last gated manual!) can compliment that.

I also think that was the cheapest packeage you could get for the gallardo, can you imagine? Look at what the new 911r has to cost! (which follows basically the same idea), and for a lambo that's much rarer than for a Porsche.
Lamborghini was very early in switching completely over to 4wd and also were pretty early with paddleshifting (egear, I dont mean slushbox like tiptronic)
