I have a partially hacked upon cooler. I was attempting to remove spring for another guy just like OP. I believe I determined that you can’t transplant one. It appears that the spring is captured by the welded on keeper. I could be wrong. I mean I can easily get Drexel out and cut that other part out to release the spring. It just isn’t clear how OP will reinstall.

Willing to listen and learn though. My cooler wouldn’t be a good candidate for replacent as I have cut both inlet and outlet flanges off. I think I cut the water spigots off too. I immitated the spigots when I did a SS water bypass line. Covered here a few years back. My spigots have same nipple but had male pipe threads on back side.
