Seriously. It's $200 in parts and a DIY. It's not like hes dropping $1k on some knockoff part plus double that in labor.
If OEM was actually good, sure, it might be risky - but OEM BMW plastic parts have proven to be unreliable (to say the least) with decades of history to back it up - so I think its a chance worth taking, personally.
