it could due to out of spec combustion . ... What did the faults come up with the BMWapp?
If the engine is reaching 90 it won't be your thermostats at least.

A blocked fuel filter won't cause more fuel usage. All it will do it make the quantity control valve try to supply the most amount of fuel but it can't achieve it. At best you will get a quantity control valve fault. Which we see alot a blocked fuel filter will cause starvation not more usage![/QUOTE]
