I ended cutting the pin prick piece tube off and retested this ball bearing only idea and I did find an optimal size that will be safe to use and is within a safe deformation limit of the tube.
The 5/32” ball bearing I retested did move slightly over a 3 day period. It did not leak so the size is sufficient to create a seal.
The final ball bearing size I did select is 7/32”. Over the last 4 days it has not moved. There is no need to pin prick the hose as the forces need to move the ball exceed what will be available. The ball bearing is easy-moderate to install and would use the end of hex wrench to install the ball down the tube.
7/32” ball bearing is an easy size to find as well since they are used in head set on bicycles so you can pick it up at your local dealer.
