So the only modifications would be finding a way to get a DCT shifter extracted from a 6HP19/6HP21 in a 2008 - 2010 535i xDrive sedan and placed into my car.

Only wiring and coding would be an issue.

Sounds good BUT when I search thru eBay for the DCT shifter assembly part
from a 2008 to 2011 535i xDrive sedan those shifter assembly are radically different than the E90 shifter assembly.

The DCT shifter comes out of a enclosed electrical box.
Don't use the 535 shifter. Use the 535 mechatronics with the E90 DCT shifter. Electrical signals should be the same, and the 535 mechatronics should allow for an electrically actuated shifting mechanism rather than mechanically actuated.

Mechatronics is still a lot of work to swap, but nowhere near as bad or expensive as doing a whole DCT swap. You'd just have to run an extra LIN-bus wire from the shifter assembly to the transmission (otherwise everything occurs over the already existing CAN-bus wiring)
